Practising Alone: Wall Drills and Shadow Work
No partner, no court booking? You can still improve meaningfully.
Court time is scarce, especially at peak hours. Solo practice fills the gap better than most players assume.
Wall Rallies
Any solid wall works. Hit controlled forehands and backhands, aiming for a consistent contact point. Twenty minutes builds more feel than an hour of doubles.
Shadow Swings
Practise the bandeja and vibora motions without a ball, in front of a mirror or a window. It sounds silly and it builds the pattern quickly.
Ball Control Work
Bounce the ball on the racquet face, alternating sides, then on the edge. It sharpens hand-eye coordination and racquet awareness.
Footwork Ladders
Split-steps, lateral shuffles and small adjusting steps. Five minutes, three times a week, transfers directly to court.
Fitness That Transfers
Lateral lunges, single-leg balance work and rotator cuff bands. Padel-specific strength beats general cardio for injury prevention.
Watch and Analyse
Twenty minutes of professional padel with the sound off, watching only positioning, teaches more than most people expect.
None of this replaces playing. All of it makes your playing time count for more.
