Most club players see the serve as a formality. It is your only free choice in the point.

Serve and Move In

The whole purpose of the padel serve is to get you to the net. Serve, then step in immediately.

Aim at the Glass

A serve angled into the side glass forces an awkward return and a weak reply.

Vary the Depth

A short serve pulls the returner forward and often produces a floating ball you can volley.

Slice It

Sidespin off the glass moves the ball away from the returner's body. Simple and effective.

Target the Backhand

Not every time — but knowing you can is worth a point a game.

Second Serve Is Still a Serve

Do not pat it in. A softer but well-placed serve is far better than a safe sitter.

Talk to Your Partner

Tell them where you are serving so they can anticipate the return. Two words before each point.
