Your First Padel Session: What to Expect

Nervous about your first time on court? Here is exactly how it goes.

Almost everyone worries they will be the worst player there. Almost nobody is, because padel is genuinely easy to start.

Before You Arrive

Wear trainers with decent grip and comfortable sportswear. Bring water. You do not need a racquet — most clubs and all our sessions provide them.

The First Ten Minutes

You will be shown the court, the underarm serve and the basic scoring. That is all the theory you need. Everything else is learned by playing.

You Will Rally Sooner Than You Think

The small court and slow ball mean you will be having real rallies within minutes. This is the reason padel converts people so quickly.

Mistakes Are Normal

The walls will confuse you. You will let balls bounce that you should have hit, and hit balls you should have left. Everyone did the same.

The Social Side

Doubles means constant chat. By the end of the session you will know the names of three people you had never met.

Afterwards

Expect tired forearms and a strong urge to book again. That is the standard reaction.

Come along to a Nottingham Padel Network session and find out for yourself.
