Padel Etiquette: The Unwritten Rules

Small courtesies that make social padel work.

Padel is a sociable game with a few conventions worth knowing.

Call Your Own Lines Honestly

If you are not sure, the ball was in. It costs a point and buys a reputation.

Return Balls Properly

Hit or roll them to the server, not into the far corner.

Apologise for Net Cords

A raised hand is enough. Then get on with it.

Do Not Coach Uninvited

Unless someone asks, keep the tips to yourself. Especially across the net.

Mind the Smash

At mixed-ability sessions, choose the sensible shot over the winner into someone's ankles.

Be On Time

Courts are booked to the minute. Late arrivals shorten everyone's session.

Thank Everyone

Handshake or racket tap with all three players at the end. It takes five seconds and sets the tone for the whole club.
